Wilkes University is a medium-sized university in northeast Pennsylvania that prides itself in serving a large proportion of first-generation students and under-represented groups.

Many of their students have never traveled out of the country or have even been on an airplane. The goal is to raise money to allow six students to enroll in the course that will go to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands in the summer of 2016.

Throughout the spring semester, students will learn about Charles Darwin, the rainforests of the world, and the Galapagos Islands. In mid-May, students will leave for a two week experience in the Ecuadorian rainforest and the Galapagos. At the end of the course, students will hand in journals and present on one aspect of the Galapagos they studied in detail.
