YNot WINDSday Kick-off Event

Aina is stoked to be part of the returning Ynot Wednesdays concert series happening at Virginia Beach’s Town Center this Wednesday, July 21st. This YNot WINDSday kick-off event will be focusing on sustainability!
Learn about the Mayor's Commission for Offshore Wind and Clean Energy. The City of Virginia Beach is on track to become a wind energy hub. Dominion Energy installed a pair of research turbines 27 miles offshore and plans to begin construction of 176 commercial turbines in 2024. The wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity for 650,000 homes in the state.
This event will feature an “Eco Market” with environmentally friendly products for sale from Aina Clothing and other vendors. The band Good Shot Judy will perform for this free outdoor concert at Town Center taking place from 5:00 – 9:00 pm on the Sandler Center Outdoor Plaza Wednesday, July 21st.

“It’s not just about a project happening off the coast, it’s also people becoming more aware of the environment,”

Food from Ynot Italian, soft drinks, wine, beer and mixed drinks will be available for purchase.

Helptoberfest 2020

Back in late September of 2013 I was having a crappy day when I received an email that lifted my spirits. Someone that I know took a minute of their time to do something that probably would seem small and trivial to most, but could result in a positive outcome. It got me thing about an article that an old high school friend had recently wrote; “Stand Up For Something, Staying Good At Life”. The major part of the article is “Assistance comes in many forms. Volunteer in your community. Help by giving someone a good referral. Put in a good word for someone. Hold open a door for someone. Make a donation. Be active in your community. Smile at someone.” So I came up with this idea for the month, Helptoberfest and for the month of October I posted about different charities, events and inspirational quotes.

I skipped the last two years for whatever reasons, but this year I’m back, and for the month of October I will donate 10% of sales to charities and organizations that are environmentally and/or outdoor focused. I’ll donate to four different groups, one will be highlighted for a seven day or so period. If you are involved with or know of one that you would like to see featured let me know. Aina is a very small business, it won’t be a lot of coin, but every bit helps.

Hopefully this reminds you to “Stay Good At Life”.

Helptoberfest & Student Conservation Association

Helptoberfest & Student Conservation Association
Helptoberfest continues with the Student Conservation Association being the next beneficiary and now through October 24th, Aina Clothing will donate 15% of sales to help build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of our environment.

SCA provides college & high school-aged members with hands-on conservation service opportunities in a vast array of fields. Every year the SCA motivates and deploys thousands of young people who care passionately about improving their natural world. They put them to work in our parks and public lands and urban green spaces to make improvements and learn conservation and sustainability practices. They teach them how to plan, enact, and lead, all while making a tangible impact in conservation.

SCA members protect, enhance, and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, and urban green spaces across the United States. They serve year-round in programs lasting anywhere from two weeks to twelve months.
